  • Women farmers in their paddy fields near Bagabar village in the Maharai Gani district of India. Manav Seva Sansthan, MSS negotiated with the government to lease this 7 acres of land to the community rather than just a family. Nearly 90 women share the land.

FALDA is supported by the Child In Need Institute (CINI) and its primary focus is educating youth on HIV, sexual and reproductive health issues. They work throughout 6 local government regions and cover 65,000 youth through 120 drop in centres.

  • A herdsman travels across the lake on a boat. The Turkana herdsmen have had to change their traditional way of living as pastoralists and learn new skills. Some of the younger men have become fishermen on Lake Turkana.

  • A nomadic pastoralist herds his goats out of the Kaeris water reservoir, which was built by the community with help from Oxfam. The reservoir is about 60m in diameter and is used to store animal drinking water.

  • Sylvain Longo, age 15 gets ready to go to a football tournament organised by Coaching for Hope. Sylvain shares his hut with 7 other boys at the AMPO orphanage in Burkina Faso. Coaching for Hope is a project to raise awareness of HIV and AIDS through football.

  • A young girl with an eye problem and her family visit the IFB Jibon Tari Floating Hospital moored up on the banks of the Modhumoti River. The Jibon Tari normally moves location every 3 months to remote riverine and offshore areas. It was launched in 1999 and has been major success, reaching more that 200,000 people. .Impact Foundation Bangladesh (IFB) provide care, support and treatment to people with disabilities in Bangladesh.

  • A young 14-year-old Malian girl from the street project of the Jeunesse & Developpement project learns how to sew in Bamako; Mali. The J&D project supports the empowerment of local communities, the improvement of education, and the promotion of health and economic development.

  • Peter Kangaala, a Kulika trained coffee farmer with the coffee he has produced. Peter cycled 8 km to deliver the beans, which weighed 45kgs, he received 52,200 UG shillings for them.

In 2002, it was reported that 55% of the population is 19 years of age or younger. In 2005, it was revealed that a full 45.8% of Tanzania's population is actually under the tender age of 15. In direct response to the urgency of the situation for Tanzania's children and its national future, the Caucus for Children's Rights has launched a campaign to spark national awareness that Tanzania's future depends on the treatment of Tanzania's children today. 2008 STARS Impact Award winner for Protection: Moshi-based Mkombozi, selected for its holistic approach to stemming the tide of Tanzania's street children by providing housing, education, research, advocacy, and outreach for vulnerable children and youth, aimed at ending their abuse and neglect and ensuring their dignity and rights.

The migrant community is given education and information support by the Pragya organization who have a project helping in high altitude areas across the Himalayas.

These predictions are made with the use of sacrificial goats, the fresh blood of chickens, observing the behaviour of the beheaded chicken and various ritualistic instruments and objects.
